Who We Are

NCFP is a national network of donors and their families, community foundations, and philanthropy serving organizations.

Established in 1997, the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP) is a catalyst for the greater good; it provides donors and their families with comprehensive resources, expertise, compassionate support and community. We are rooted in the belief that family participation enriches philanthropy and that philanthropy strengthens families. We empower donors and their families to define and pursue their purpose, establish thoughtful policies and practices, and build community to make a positive impact through their giving.

What We Do

Networking

NCFP is first and foremost a community of donors. Together, we cultivate peer connections, promote collaboration and provide space for donors and the sector to come together to learn and explore.

Educational programming

Educational opportunities are offered through a comprehensive calendar of events, including a National Forum on Family Philanthropy, Trustee Education Institute, and CEO Retreat.

Knowledge Center

The Knowledge Center is the premier source of information on family philanthropy and includes content on topics such as family governance, effective grantmaking, succession planning, and family dynamics.

Consultations

NCFP staff is eager to identify resources and advise on a wide range of difficult questions. We encourage our community to leverage our expertise with personal consultation.

Monthly webinar series

Webinars are hosted monthly and feature donors and experts in the fi eld to bring to life pertinent issues on family philanthropy.

Peer Networks

Peer Networks gather likeminded donors and foundation staff to share lessons learned and offer support on a variety of topics, including engaging youth in family philanthropy and limited lifespan foundations.

Research

NCFP commissions one-of-a-kind research on trends in family philanthropy to provide relevant data on the field.
