Joseph M. Samulski, Managing Director, Chief Fiduciary Officer, BNY Mellon Wealth Management

 
Joseph Samulski is the chief fiduciary officer for BNY Mellon Wealth Management. In this role, he is responsible for the oversight of fiduciary risk for Wealth Management, and is the chair of its National Trust Administrative Committee. He is also a member of BNY Mellon’s Fiduciary Risk Management Committee.
 
Prior to joining the firm in 2004, Joseph practiced trusts and estates law in New York City for 15 years and served as the chief of the Law Department at the New York County Surrogate’s Court for 5 years. 
 
Joseph received a bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University and a juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review and the Order of the Wig and Robe. He is a member of various national and state professional organizations, and is a frequent lecturer at wealth management and continuing legal education seminars sponsored by various financial industry organizations, national and state bar associations, governmental agencies and not-for-profit institutions. Joseph serves on numerous committees, including the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Trust and Estates Law Section, the New York Bankers Association’s  Trust and Investment Division, and the New York State Office of the Court Administration’s Surrogate’s Court Advisory Committee. In addition, he serves as  treasurer of the George Link Jr. Foundation and a director of the Howard Gilman Foundation.
