Paul Hanley, Partner, Assurance Financial Services - Asset Management, PwC Private Company Services

Paul is a member of PwC’s Asset Management practice and has over 20 years of experience helping clients achieve their goals, and manage their operational risks. He is a subject matter specialist in family office financial accounting, reporting and controls. Paul helps clients in the investment, public and private charitable foundations, privately held institutional investor, and real estate industries. He has extensive experience assisting closely held entities, including large family offices, with internal controls and business process analysis. 
 
His clients include private investment vehicles such highly-endowed non-profit foundations and charitable institutions, hedge funds and private equity funds, and high-net-worth family offices. In addition to performing financial statement audits, Paul’s experience includes leading engagement teams in internal control reviews, due diligence projects, information system assessments and agreed upon procedures engagements. Paul is the co-author of the PwC 2005 publication entitled Internal Controls: The Key to Accountability, for colleges, universities, and not-for-profit institutions, as well as other related publications on similar topics. 
 

Richard S. Wagman, Principal, PwC Private Company Services

Rich Wagman is a Tax Principal in the Personal Financial Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Boston office serving high net worth individual and family clients throughout the northeast region and the east coast. He has been with PwC for over 22 years. In addition to working in the Boston office, Rich has also worked in the Miami and Washington D.C. offices of PwC and is in the process of relocating to the Atlanta practice to run the high net worth tax practice there. Rich specializes in the areas of income, estate, trust, and charitable gift planning as well as executive compensation. Rich has worked extensively with family offices, owners of private companies, corporate executives and other high net worth individuals and families in all matters of consulting and compliance related to individual income tax planning, estate and gift planning, trust planning, charitable planning and general tax planning. He is one of the national leaders of PwC’s Private Wealth Services, an initiative that focuses on providing tax, assurance and advisory services to family wealth and family office clients. Rich is the primary author of PwC’s monograph, PricewaterhouseCoopers Guide to Charitable Giving. Rich has consulted with numerous charitable organizations regarding planned giving and other charitable giving matters and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, MA and the National YoungArts Foundation in Miami, FL. Rich received a B.A. from Middlebury College and a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law.

Heather Asher, Senior Relationship Manager

Heather Asher is a senior relationship manager for Family Office Exchange (FOX). Part of FOX’s family office team, she provides a variety of member services and supports the specific needs for family business-owning members. She also works on FOX’s Next Generation Network by engaging younger family members with education and networking.
 
Before joining FOX in 2008, Heather served as strategic marketing and events manager at Aon Corporation for seven years. While at Aon, Heather planned and executed more than 100 large-scale events and created the marketing and project execution for Aon’s South America Division. Earlier, she worked on Capitol Hill for a U.S. senator and in the foreign policy department at a lobbyist organization. She also has previous experience working in a Chicago-based family office.
 
Heather has a bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations/advertising and political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She graduated with honors from DePaul University with a master’s degree in organizational and multi-cultural communications.
 

Mariann Mihailidis, Managing Director

Mariann Mihailidis serves as managing director and consultant to family office members of the Family Office Exchange. In her role she oversees the management of all domestic family office relationships. As a practicing tax and estate-planning attorney, she develops strategies in wealth transfer issues, taxes, and corporate structures. Ms. Mihailidis has served as an executor and trustee, and her fiduciary responsibilities included administrative, legal, and accounting duties of various trusts and estates.
 
Prior to joining FOX in 1996, Ms. Mihailidis worked in one of America’s leading family offices for four years as an accounting manager for the family’s investment partnerships and operating companies. 
 
She also spent more than six years in public accounting, including work as an auditor for Price Waterhouse. Ms. Mihailidis received a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and a JD from IIT-Kent College of Law.
