Presenter: James J. Steffel, Partner, Warner Norcross & Judd LLP At this briefing, Jim Steffel and one of Warner Norcross & Judd's long-standing family clients will discuss their joint experience using an RFP Process to evaluate and hire an outsourced CIO. James J. Steffel, Partner, Warner Norcross & Judd LLP
James Steffel served as the founding Chair of Warner Norcross & Judd’s Private Client and Family Office Group. His practice focuses on high net worth succession, asset protection and estate planning that frequently involves strategic and governance matters for various types of family entities and family offices. He spent over a decade practicing law in a family business, two years helping roll-out a Multi-Family Office and 15 years as a Partner at Warner. Mr. Steffel has presented numerous planning and strategy seminars, has been selected to Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Super Lawyers, and graduated in the top 10 at both the University of Toledo College of Law (J.D. and Member of Law Review) and the University of Miami Law School (LL.M. in Estate Planning).
Vincent Hayes, Director of Member Development
Vincent Hayes is the Director of Member Development at Family Office Exchange (FOX). Vincent serves as the ambassador for FOX in reaching out to new members, promoting the networking and education benefits that come with FOX membership. He helps prospective members find ways to solve the challenges they face in running their family enterprises using resources available within FOX and its membership community.
Prior to joining FOX, Vincent spent 15 years in the investment world, most recently with AGN Futures, where he has served as Vice President of Sales & Operations since 2011. Previously, Vincent has worked at R.J. O’Brien & Associates, Global Forex Trading, and ZAP Futures. Vincent is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and minor in Accounting. He is based in Chicago.
Mariann Mihailidis, Managing Director, Councils
Mariann Mihailidis serves as managing director and consultant to family office members of the Family Office Exchange. In her role she oversees the management of all domestic family office relationships. As a practicing tax and estate-planning attorney, she develops strategies in wealth transfer issues, taxes, and corporate structures. Mariann has served as an executor and trustee, and her fiduciary responsibilities included administrative, legal, and accounting duties of various trusts and estates.
Prior to joining FOX in 1996, Mariann worked in one of America’s leading family offices for four years as an accounting manager for the family’s investment partnerships and operating companies.
She also spent more than six years in public accounting, including work as an auditor for Price Waterhouse. Mariann received a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and a JD from IIT-Kent College of Law.
