A discussion of highlights from the 2016 U.S. Trust Study of High Net Worth Philanthropy; a study of giving and volunteering trends, behaviors, attitudes, and priorities among wealthy American households. The session will focus on challenges that were identified by donors and a discussion of options for addressing them.

Claire M. Costello, National Philanthropic Practice Executive for Philanthropic Solutions, U.S. Trust Bank of America Corporation

Claire Costello is the National Philanthropic Practice Executive for Philanthropic Solutions at U.S. Trust Bank of America Corporation.  Ms. Costello is a recognized expert in philanthropy. Her reputation results from her involvement with a variety of non-profit ventures and her extensive work assisting high-net-worth individuals and families in identifying and fulfilling their philanthropic ambitions. She supports clients in making a broad range of philanthropic decisions concerning the implementation and execution of their giving strategies and is responsible for providing thought leadership and identifying best practices for both philanthropic families and nonprofit institutions.

Previously, Ms. Costello founded and managed the Citigroup Private Bank global Philanthropic Advisory Service.  She also practiced law as a litigator in both the public and private sectors, prior to which she clerked in the U.S. District Court.  Ms. Costello is a graduate of Amherst College and New York University School of Law.  Ms. Costello has served on the Advisory Board of GlobalGiving and the Women’s Philanthropy Institute, the Hewlett Foundation Donor Education Committee, the Block Island Land Trust and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of The National Center for Family Philanthropy.

Sandra Ditore, Senior Business Development Manager

Sandra Ditore, Senior Business Development Manager for Family Office Exchange (FOX) which is a leading provider of research, advice and education to families of exceptional wealth. FOX serves more than 350 ultra-wealthy families and 150 multi-family offices and advisory firms across 20 countries. In her role, Ms. Ditore is responsible for identifying prospective family and advisor members, assessing their needs and priorities, and ensuring they have a deep understanding of the benefits of FOX membership. In addition to new member acquisitions, Ms. Ditore is responsible for identifying and securing sponsorship for FOX forums and educational workshops. 
 
Ms. Ditore has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing. Before joining FOX in 2002, Ms. Ditore was a senior account manager for a Chicago-based healthcare communications firm, where she developed marketing strategies for global pharmaceutical brands. Prior to this, she held research and marketing positions at several Wall Street investment banking firms, including Drexel Burnham Lambert, Dean Witter Reynolds, and Dillon Read & Co. 
 
Ms. Ditore is on the Executive Leadership Team for the Family Firm Institute (FFI) Midwest Chapter. Her involvement includes the development of educational programming for Midwest members.
 

Patience Marmer, Senior Relationship Manager

Patience Marmer has been serving as a trusted advisor to ultra-wealthy individuals and family office clients for 17 years. For 10 years, she was embedded in a large single family office, where she built bespoke risk management programs for a multi-generational family. Patience created management frameworks for multiple museum quality fine art and valuable collections, and was the family office facilitator for multiple special projects ranging from large scale residential constructions to risk technology upgrades.

Patience was a partner at The Haven Art Group, where she was the director of Private Client Practice of Forbes 40, and was a fine art claim adjuster to leading collectors, galleries and museums. Her specialties include risk management, fine art and valuable collection management, multi-estates and luxury service operations for ultra-high net worth individuals.

Patience studied at the University of Illinois and The Art Institute of Chicago.
