Overview

The FOX Financial Executive Council is composed of the financial and operational executives working in family offices or family businesses serving families of wealth, specifically CFOs, tax managers, controllers, and those in charge of day-to-day operations. The purpose of this council is to elevate the professional and personal performance of these executives leading to enhanced operation of the family enterprise and long term well-being of the family.
The concentrated day-and-a half long format of the two Council meetings each year allows for in-depth exploration of the issues at hand. Members find this approach to be highly effective in arriving at solutions for the unique issues they face. This intense experience is not available anywhere else in the world.

1:00 p.m. “End to End” Business Process Management: The Benefits of Documenting Family Office Workflows

A project to define workflows within the family office and the creation of the subsequent Policies and Procedures is one that often gets put off. It is time-consuming and can be difficult without the right tools and commitment. In this session, Spearker will share the process that a multi-family office, has used to document and create work flows for 300+ family office procedures. He will outline the benefits of the process – from time savings to increased operational efficiency to having a way to document the fiduciary responsibilities of and deliverables provided by the office for the family – and provide a roadmap for you to consider for your family office.

2:15 p.m. Case Study: The Roles and Responsibilities of the Risk & Compliance Committee

For many families, a primary role for the family office is that of risk manager, looking across the family enterprise to identify and manage both risks and opportunities. In this session, member will share their office’s approach and outline the roles and responsibilities of their Risk & Compliance Committee. The member will discuss the steps they’ve taken - from reviewing internal controls to considering staffing, person, physical and cyber risks - and the benefits of this approach.

- Group Discussion: Financial Reporting Show & Tell
In this session, the group will discuss its financial reporting to family members – what information is shared and why, how it’s communicated, who creates the reports, frequency of reporting, and overall feedback on the process. Each member will share a sample summary report with the group as prework for the meeting.

But how can anyone truly prepare for the practical realities of settling a family member’s estate while grieving and managing the impact of this loss on the family? This session outlines some of the things you can be thinking about now to be prepared for a death in the family.
