Working without Stress

Stress is not a natural response to the pressures of work.  It’s a choice that you make, consciously or not, to worry and fret and agonize over the work you need to do instead of just doing it.  Why do some people get stressed while others stay calm, cool and collected under pressure?  The answer lies in resilience – your ability to cope with challenges and thrive under adversity – rather than ruminating and obsessing over them.  The key to “managing” stress is to stop it before it starts.  To be resilient, flexible and ready for anything.

In this session, you will learn:

  • Why stress is not an inevitable part of life.
  • The difference between pressure and stress.
  • To control your attention and become more resilient.
  • To practice resilient communication and lead organizational change without stress.

Case Study: Trustee and Beneficiary Education Workshop –

Why do one for the family?

A SMC member designed a trustee and beneficiary education workshop for a family. The goal of the workshop was to enhance the family’s understanding of trusts and to hone the family’s wealth stewardship capabilities.  The member worked with Sarah Severson and someone at FOX to create the workshop for the family.

This session will discuss:

  1. Why the family did this workshop
  2. The goals and agenda for the family meeting
  3. The member will give a “taste” of the workshop by presenting the “Managing Fiduciary Risk in 2019” session
  4. Share the benefits to the family
  5. Lessons learned
