Position Summary:

The Director for the Direct Investment Network (“DIN”) is responsible to build and support a strategic network of business owning families who desire to share their industry expertise and to collaborate with other business owners to make strategic acquisitions or acquire companies in new industries where they lack operating expertise. This role develops and executes a strategic business plan to grow the existing DIN network. Benchmarks for this role will include growth of the Network (currently 140+ members), deals posted by members for co-investment, connections and company investments made among families with common interests, and potential design of new investment ventures for group collaboration. The Director must have an entrepreneurial mindset and a proven track record of success building and growing relationships with business owners.

Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with 120+ members of DIN and add new members to this network by speaking with prospects who are interested in collaboration.
  • Conduct an advisory call with each DIN member at least twice a year to understand priorities and networking opportunities with each member. Update CRM with the family priorities, the size of deals being sought, and the industries where they want to do deals.
  • Identify and develop underwriters with unique skillsets for the DIN Network. Manage the relationship with each Sponsor to ensure that they are visible and benefitting from working with the DIN Network.
  • Conduct 6-8 regional dinners hosted by DIN Sponsors in the areas where there is the greatest interest in co-investing together with other members.
  • Manage the firm’s relationship with select DIN members who are actively involved in investment deal flow.
  • Ensure comprehensive capture of member needs, information, and keeping member information up to date in the CRM.

Professional Experience and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with Private Equity transactions, including an understanding of overall direct investing process, deal flow, due diligence, deal structuring and analytics, structural analysis and strategies for developing strong partnerships among families with in-depth experience with business owning families.
  • Advanced degree in relevant discipline (MBA, MST, JD, etc.) preferred.
  • Relevant professional certification and securities licenses preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of sophisticated wealth management issues including investing, tax, trusts and estate planning, partnership accounting and multi- generational issues is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on clients, making their needs a primary focus of actions as well as the ability to initiate, build, and sustain productive client relationships through delivery of quality services leading to exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Experience cultivating relationships and contributing to member and team dynamics demonstrated through:
    • Proactive outreach to members to build rapport quickly, maintain deep relationships, and cultivate additional business opportunities from existing members
    • Collaboration with Team members regarding member needs, meeting dates and content development
    • Leadership in effective facilitation of meetings, events, dinners and member interaction
  • Effective communication – strong written and verbal skills demonstrated through:
    • Presentation of high-quality content to members o Articulate communications in meetings with members, prospects, and internal constituents
    • Clear and concise written communications that share FOX industry knowledge effectively
    • Effective and timely responses to common inquiries from members
    • Creation of materials of the highest quality standards, including editing and proofreading work
