Overview
One of the top issues identified by FOX members…family office executives, family members and advisors…is managing data security. In an environment where technology evolves daily and new types of technology threats appear at an equal pace, being prepared is the best defense to minimize legal and security risks.
Join us for an in-depth examination of how to best prepare for new threats and issues relating to data security. The program guided FOX participants through different types of data breaches, including external threats (hackers, etc.) and internal ones (thefts of proprietary information, employees leaving the family office, etc.) These breaches have the potential to cause significant damage to a family office’s operations and relationships, and could embroil the office in significant litigation. The webinar discussed the preemptive steps a family office can take to minimize risk and exposure in the event of a data breach.
Considerations such as preparing an incident response plan and understanding the various civil and criminal legal issues that ensue after a data breach can guide and speed an office’s response in a time of crisis, while guarding against ad-hoc decision making without input from key members of management and the office’s outside advisors.
